Currently Jacknife are creating a performance for Team London Bridge and Ideas Tap for the Olympic Games 2012. It is called TEA TIME and our aim is to give our audience members, from different countries and backgrounds, an insight into the significance TEA has within Britain, how TEA has changed, the history/origin of TEA and the use of TEA in Britain today. Through our unique exploration of Tea, using physical movement and pop-up cafe scenario we want to show everyone why we care so much about this age old tradition.
We created the Tea Time video as an audition for our London Bridge performance and it portrays how the tradition of drinking tea has changed throughout time and history using physical movement. We follow a lady throughout history starting in a traditional tea room, for afternoon tea, moving through to how tea is used and made in modern day Britain.
We aim to expand, adapt and incorporate more themes into the piece in preparation for our performance with a bigger space on the streets of London Bridge at the Olympics on the Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th August, Saturday 1st and Thursday 6th December at London Bridge.
